Our Raya in Melaka…
So, ok this is kinda old news, but I have lots to catch you guys up on
This is more of a food entry… maybe the first of many, who knows.
First day of raya (way back on the 13th of October) was spent mostly around the 10km radius of our home! I didn’t go anywhere except for prayers and a family home close by. I was planning to go to my parents’ place in KL, but of course they were out and coordinating a time with them was difficult. It didn’t help that the following day we were planning to go off to Melaka and the day after that flying off to New York. So if we couldn’t get schedule time on the 1st day, then it was raya with the parents a month later! (Eventually that was what happened.)
I’m digressing. I wanted to share with you this Ikan Bakar place in Melaka. This was purely a food trip, suggested by my wife’s uncle! Yes, we drove down just to go eat; about 11 of us! (Or was it more?). Sadly, I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the place. Hmm… maybe it was Ikan Bakar Sungai Duyung or something with Sungai in it (BTW, sungai means river in English). I know, not really helping, but how many good ikan bakar place can there be in Melaka! Supposedly this place was pretty famous, or so I was told. Hence, if any food traveller out there knows the place, please post a map somewhere and provide me a link. I might decide to go again. I kinda followed the car in-front, no way can I remember the roads!
How was the food? Food was fresh, tasty and cheap. Atmosphere was lively and the company was great. Had fish, crabs, mussels and god knows what else. The Nasi Lemak was also good. I had only 3 packets; unlike some individuals inĀ the party who somehow managed to chow down 8 packets each! I chose not to eat too much coconut imbued rice, as I would’ve gotten really sleepy if I had. Overall, a recommended food destination if you’re in Melaka. Just don’t ask me for directions!
Any recommendations closer to home, i.e. in KL / Selangor ?
