Our stopover in Dubai

Just wanted to share a few photos from my Dubai trip. It was just a short one. Stayed at the Lotus Boutique Hotel; it was either a 3-star or a 4-star, I can’t remember. Nice modern hotel – nothing to complain really and the room we checked into also came with breakfast. I do have to say that the room we stayed in was huge! In fact, I think it was a better accommodation than our hotel in NYC! :) It was situated in the Deira District, the old part of town.

On one of the days, we took a walk down the street in front of our hotel all the way to the Gold Souk. Man were there a lot of gold stores there! You can briefly see from the above photo. Too bad I had no money to buy any. :) Plus, I wouldn’t know how to haggle at these sort of places.

The Big Apple

We spent well over a week in the Big Apple. Brought the missus and my eldest kid. Decided to leave the youngest behind. (Never mind Lil’ Hercules, we will take another trip when you’re bigger.) Was there for a day of business and a week of pleasure! :) Must say that we had the best weather during our visit. It was sunny, yet not hot, for all but one day, while we were there. Great for sightseeing. Yes, we did the touristy stuff – took the NYC Bus tour, walked along Times Square, went to Central Park, the Rockefeller Center, visited a museum (should have gone to the MoMa – but somehow we didn’t get around to it), and also enjoyed a dinner cruise around Manhattan Island.

ZZZzzz @ Dubai Airport

leave a comment »

Haven’t passed through Dubai Airport in ages! I think the last time I was through here was in the early 90s. I wonder if this is the same airport? It could be new, lots of construction currently going on and we had to take a bus instead of an aerobridge. Haven’t gone on one of those in ages as well! We transited (is that a word?) here on our way to NYC. We were flying Emirates, cause it was lighter on the pocket than Malaysia Airlines. Hard to be nationalistic when on a budget. Why can’t MAS be more competitive?
